November 12, 2009 A group of local investors interested in early-stage technology deals along with 25 start up companies from ITEN got together yesterday afternoon for a unique "speed dating" event. All of the start-up CEOs got a brief audience with each investor, moving from table to table at 3-minute intervals. A networking reception that also included ITEN mentors followed the very intense speed dating session.
Many new connections were made, and immediate feedback from both companies and investors ranged from "very good" to "fantastic."
The unique concept of Investor Speed Dating is to enable investors and entrepreneurs to quickly come to a point agreement as to whether or not there is a "fit" between the two. If yes, a follow-up meeting is scheduled. If no, both sides save a lot of what might otherwise be wasted time and effort.
This event also marks the beginning of a more structured relationship between ITEN and the investment community that will grow and develop for the benefit of those companies taking advantage of the ITEN network and programs. ITEN will hold future Speed Dating events as well as other opportunities for companies and interested investors to come together. They will be listed on the "Events" page of the ITEN website.
