Capital Innovators Receives over 160 Applications St. Louis' new IT accelerator program is off to a fast start, with Capital Innovators announcing they have received many more applications than expected by the July 15 deadline. A majority of the applications have come from ventures in the St. Louis metro area, but many came from outside the region. Finalists will be notified soon and selected to attend a "pitch day" from which the 5 accelerator companies will be chosen. The accelerator companies will each receive $50,000 in investment from Capital Innovators and be put through a rigorous 12-week acceleration program. At the end of the program in December, the 5 companies will have the opportunity to present their ventures at a "Demo Day" to additional investors. The accelerator program, known as Start Up St. Louis, will run twice a year, enabling 10 IT ventures per year to benefit from the investment, mentoring and strategic relationships that Capital Innovators and their partners will provide. New Angel Group Focusing on Financial Services Technology Companies
St. Louis benefits tremendously by being the home of some of the nation's largest financial services firms. While these companies provide huge economic benefits to the region, St. Louis has the opportunity to further capitalize on this cluster of financial services talent to promote the growth of related start-ups. That is why FinServeTechAngels is forming. FinServe Tech Angels is a new group of financial services executives and entrepreneurs who invest in early stage financial services technology companies located throughout the Midwest. The momentum is building, and FinServe Tech Angels has received great interest from potential members, entrepreneurs, and economic development officials. We will host our first pitch meeting in September where three early-stage companies from across the Midwest will present to financial services executives interested in angel investing. The meeting date will be announced soon. This is a great opportunity for financial services professional to see firsthand the benefits of investing in early-stage companies through an angel group. FinServe Tech Angels has established a relationship with ITEN and will consider early stage technology companies that are involved in the financial services industry and have graduated from ITEN's Mock Angel program.
