Announcing the launch of Capital Innovators, St. Louis Tech Fund Accelerator Program
Starting June 1st, Capital Innovators began accepting applications for this fall's start-up Accelerator Program.
Are you an entrepreneur who has a great idea but hasn't gotten your idea off the ground? Capital Innovators is offering $50,000 in seed funding to five companies who will join our accelerator in downtown St. Louis. Our rigorous twelve-week program that includes free office-space, free legal and marketing services, subsidized housing in downtown St. Louis, free wi-fi and web hosting and access to the best and brightest that St. Louis has to offer through our mentorship bootcamp and university fellowship program.
The program concludes with the opportunity to demo your IT Company to major investors who can take your business to the next level. Applications are due July 15th, 2011 and the first class will begin September 12th, 2011.

Gary Stiehr
Gary Stiehr has been involved with the St. Louis entrepreneur community since 2004 and has been an ITEN Technology Mentor, specializing in scalable architectures and High Performance Computing, since the program started in 2008. High Performance Computing (HPC) is a tool that offers tremendous potential to St. Louis. Its ability to enable the rapid testing of new ideas is perfectly matched with the entrepreneurial spirit. Gary recently started STLhpc.net in an effort to strengthen St. Louis by spotlighting, connecting and building upon local HPC expertise and helping local organizations leverage HPC.
Gary has over eleven years of experience in High Performance Computing (HPC) environments. He currently leads the Information Systems group at The Genome Institute at Washington University in St. Louis, which includes the HPC systems used to analyze the genetic basis of cancer and other diseases. Prior to joining The Genome Institute, Gary worked at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) as part of the team building and supporting the U.S. Tier-1 regional computing center as part of the Worldwide Large Hadron Collider Computing Grid. Prior to Fermilab, Gary led the development and adoption of high performance computing resources by University research groups at the University of Missouri - St. Louis.
STLhpc.net was founded in March 2011 and has quickly become the focal point for High Performance Computing (HPC) activity in St. Louis. Through their LinkedIn group, on Twitter & Facebook and at local events, STLhpc.net is connecting individuals and organizations in the St. Louis HPC ecosystem. Across various applications, HPC has increased innovation and product quality, decreased costs and time to market as well as enabled quicker discovery and insights.
