Strange Loop (http://thestrangeloop.com), the Midwest's premier software conference, returns to St. Louis on September 18-20, 2011.
Strange Loop is a multi-technology conference, featuring tracks on programming languages, big data, concurrency, distributed systems, mobile, and web development.
Strange Loop started in 2009 with a sold-out show at the Tivoli in University City. In 2010 Strange Loop moved to the Pageant and Moonrise Hotel, selling out with 600 developers from across the world.
In 2011 Strange Loop will move downtown to the Hilton at the Ballpark and be host to an expected 800 developers and other interested attendees.
In 2011, Strange Loop will feature four keynote presentations: Rich Hickey (creator of the Clojure language), Gerald Sussman (MIT professor, creator of the Scheme language), Erik Meijer (Haskell 98 and Microsoft's LINQ), and Allen Wirfs-Brock (early implementer of Smalltalk and Mozilla fellow). Strange Loop 2011 will also feature speakers from companies like Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, Facebook, Twitter, bit.ly, GitHub, Engine Yard, Basho, TypeSafe, Square, Heroku, and many more.

Well-known local programmer/entrepreneur/organizer par excellence Alex Miller (also an ITEN mentor) is the founder and inspirational leader of Strange Loop.
